Chiropractic is a regulated primary-contact, primary care health profession that assesses and treats conditions of the spine, muscles, joints, and nervous system to reduce pain, restore mobility, and improve overall function.

At Alera, care begins with one core belief: that the body functions best when it moves well. Dr. Zoya Bashir takes a thorough, movement-based approach to assessment, identifying the root cause of dysfunction rather than simply managing symptoms. Using a combination of Active Release Techniques (ART), neurofunctional acupuncture, corrective exercise, and chiropractic manipulation, each visit is individualized to where you are and where you want to be.

Dr. Zoya’s path into chiropractic began the way it does for many athletes, through injury. Years of competitive sport led her through a range of treatment options before she found meaningful, lasting relief through chiropractic care. That experience sparked a deeper curiosity about how the body moves, adapts, and heals, and set her on a path toward the health sciences.

She went on to graduate with high distinction from the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Specialization in Kinesiology, followed by her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, one of the most rigorous chiropractic programs in the world. Her training spans clinical biomechanics, neuromusculoskeletal diagnosis, manual therapy, nutrition, and exercise rehabilitation.

Dr. Zoya practices with a movement-first philosophy. Her approach centers on identifying the root cause of dysfunction and equipping patients with the tools to move better, recover fully, and stay ahead of injury. She is certified in Active Release Therapy (ART) and Webster Technique, and integrates diversified chiropractic manipulation, myofascial release, corrective exercise, and patient education into individualized care plans. Whether the goal is pain relief, performance, or long-term resilience, she meets patients where they are and helps them get to where they want to be.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Zoya lives the lifestyle she advocates for: surfing, snowboarding, and traveling the world. She understands firsthand what it means to demand a lot from your body, and brings that perspective into every patient interaction.
